Anti-Amerikanismus jetzt auch bei der WM? – Zwei Sichtweisen
Wie sicher alle schon wissen, ist für die US-Boys die FIFAFU-WM nach der Vorrunde beendet:

Darüber, wie es dazu gekommen ist, gehen die Meinungen auseinander. Zuerst Ray D. von Davids Medienkritik (World Cup: Lackluster Play, Poor Officiating Down USA):
First two ridiculous red cards against Italy. Now an outrageous penalty in the box to give Ghana the lead back right after the US scored to tie it up. Maybe we should just let the refs decide who wins the cup at this point.

Maybe Germany will go far this time. They probably won’t get as many bogus calls made on them. Some people in the ESPN chat room are actually suggesting the US team had bad calls made against it because America “is so disliked” around the world.

Naja, der FAZ-Artikel wurde von einer Frau geschrieben. Und Frauen haben ja bekanntlich keine Ahnung von Fußball. Das kann man auch an den WM-Blogeinträgen von Mad Minerva sehen:

The US-Italy match was especially crazy — a nutty own-goal by Italy’s Zaccardo, red cards everywhere (have you ever seen that many red cards in one game?), spilled blood (literally), and a couple fine saves by Kasey Keller, the US goalkeeper. And it all ended in a 1-1 tie. Well, a tie is better than a loss!
Right now I’m hearing a LOT of complaining about the referee too, for giving out 3 red cards. Well, I am exhausted now. But what a fun day for watching soccer! I do believe I am becoming addicted. And Fortune’s wheel keeps turning for all soccer fans!

The US played miserably! Miserably. I’m glad that Ghana advances, though! It is a great story of the underdog. Nobody thought Ghana would do well; in fact most of the sports reporters ignored Ghana completely and predicted that out of the group, Italy and the Czech Republic would advance. Congratulations to Ghana for playing with real skill and heart. And congrats too to the delightful Italians also. US team, back to the drawing board.

Nee, also wirklich. Frauen haben keine Ahnung von Fußball. Und überhaupt, diese Asian Americans mit ihrem Leistungsdenken. Entsetzlich

(Und ja, ich habe mich in der Kategorie geirrt. Ich verstehe ja von diesem komischen Ballspiel auch nichts. Gottseidank, denn so kann ich Mad Minerva weiter mit Vergnügen lesen und brauche mir keine Gedanken darüber zu machen, ob Dr. Markus Merk nun Anti-Amerikaner ist oder nicht. Aber im Vergleich mit seinem Kollegen im Spiel Kroatien-Australien hat Merk ja noch gut gepfiffen; drei Platzverweise in einem Spiel hat es ja nun schon viermal bei Weltmeisterschaften gegeben – aber drei gelbe Karten für denselben Spieler?)
